Bayan at Anatolian Festival
Bayan Claremont hosted a booth at the 4th Anatolian Cultures and Food Festival at the Orange County Fair Grounds from May 16-19. Thousands of visitors from southern California and surrounding states enjoyed the presentation of the history, art, and traditions of the many cultural groups of the Anatolian region. Traditional coffeehouses, a grand bazaar, an Ottoman royal procession, and a large stage for live performances kept visitors entertained throughout the festival. President Jihad Turk and faculty member Munir Shaikh attended the event, interacting with community members who appreciated learning about Claremont Lincoln University's multifaith environment and Bayan Claremont's mission to prepare Muslim leaders for today's interreligious contexts. Several Bayan graduate students of Turkish heritage were actively involved in organizing and managing the festival activities.
